Rehabilitation of an existing building in Mondim de Basto, Trás-os-Montes. Structural intervention preserving the existing concrete slab at level 330.90 and constructing a new slab. Lightweight steel structure integrated with the exterior stone walls.
Challenge
Preserve the existing concrete slab and integrate a new lightweight steel structure within the stone walls, reconciling the existing conditions with new functional and structural requirements.
Solution
Retention of the existing slab without demolition, construction of a new slab over the original structure and introduction of lightweight steel framework. Coordination between new structure and existing stone walls.
